Roman family name meaning 'from the town Tibur' [1] [2]
The town's name is Tivoli today (Central Italy), and in Roman times it was a summer resort. The origin of the place name is Illyrian but the meaning is uncertain. It has been linked with Albanian timbi = 'rock'. Its reputation as a resort caused the name to be adopted for the famous Tivoli amusement gardens in Copenhagen. [3]
