-ius

-ius is a Latin suffix which is added to a noun to form an adjective indicating 'made of' or 'belonging to' that noun. In the Nordic countries, it is also used to Latinise Nordic or other Germanic names and to create male forms of female names.

In Icelandic, the spelling -íus is used.

The female form of the suffix is -ia/-ie.
