  • Heró: This Icelandic spelling of Hero was approved.
  • Hild: Previously only the variants Hildur and Hilda were allowed to use in Iceland. Now Hild was approved as well.
  • Ílena: This Icelandic spelling of Ilena was approved.
  • Menja: This Old Norse name means 'slave' and appears in the Norse mythology. It was approved to be used as a given name now in Iceland as well.
  • Lárentína: This name is an Icelandic spelling of Laurentina. It was approved.
  • Myríam: This Icelandic spelling of Myriam was approved.
  • Snæfrost: This new combination of SNÆ and FROST was approved as a given name for all genders.

Male Names

  • Celin m: This name of unknown origin and meaning was approved to be used as a male name in Iceland. In the other Nordic countries it is a female name (a variant form of Celine).
  • Iðar: This Icelandic form of Idar was approved.
  • Marino: This Roman younger form of the Latin name Marinus was approved to be used in Iceland now as well.
  • Marþór: This new combination of MARR and ÞOR was approved.
  • Salvadór: This is an Icelandic spelling of the Spanish name Salvador and it was approved to be used in Iceland spelled like this.
  • Sigurhörður: This new combination of SIG and HÖRD was approved.
  • Snæfrost: This new combination of SNÆ and FROST was approved as a given name for all genders.
  • Týri: This variant form of the Norse god name Týr was approved as a given name in Iceland now.
