Top 3

The most popular baby names in Sweden in 2021 were Alice (706 girls) and Noah (745 boys) - exactly the same names as in 2020!

Alice has been a very popular name for a long time now. It entered the top 10 list back in 2005 and has been on the very top 10 times since.

Maja (681 girls) is on the second place again. It has been a top 10 name for several years now, at the very top 3 times before. The top 3 name was Vera (674 girls). Last year it was on no 13.

Noah entered the top 10 list 5 years ago and 2021 is the second year it reached to the very top of the list.

William (726 boys) is on the second place again. It has been a top 10 name for more than 20 years now. Liam (683 boys) is no 3. In 2020 it was on no 5 and it has been among the top 10 most popular names for 15 years now.

New Names on the Top 10 List

Lilly and Vera are new names on the top 10 list of 2021. Both only took a short break last year, Vera on place no 13 and Lilly on no 11. Olivia and Freja left the top 10 list.

Frans is the only new entry on the top 10 list among the boys. Last year it was on place no 27, so it took a huge step up. Oscar left the top 10 list.

New Names on the Top 100 List

New female names are Alba and Wilda. The names which left the top 100 list are Amanda, Belle, Felicia and Matilda (two more because three names shared place no 100 last time).

The only new male name is Aston which entered instead of Amir and David (one more because there was a shared place no 100 last time).

Highest Risers

Alba (247 girls) is the highest rising female name. It entered the top 100 in 2021 by jumping straight to the 51st place. Ted (265 boys) is the highest riser among the male names, climbing from no 94 in 2020 to no 55 in 2021.

On the other hand there were some names that lost in popularity as well. The ones that fell deepest were Ronja among the female names (from no 59 down to no 84) and Anton (from no 73 down to no 88) and Vincent (from no 18 down to no 33) among the male names.
