Origin and Meaning
From the name of the precious stone deriving from from French le jade, error for earlier l'ejade, from (piedra de [la] [h]ijada) meaning '(stone of the) bowels/groin/loins, stone of colic, pain in the side' - jade was thought to cure this, the Spanish word deriving from Latin ilia (plural) = 'flanks, kidney area' [1] [2]
