Latin spelling of Greek Θούλη, a place name used by the Greek explorer Pytheas (380 - ca. 310 BC) for an island somewhere 'farthest north' [1]
It is uncertain, which place he meant, guesses include Greenland, Iceland, Smøla in Norway, Saaremaa in Estonia, Shetland Islands
