According to an old Swedish legend, Blenda was the leader of the women who organised defense against the attacking Danes when all the men had left to fight against Norway in the 6th century. The women seduced the Danish men and killed them when they had fallen asleep after drinking. When their men returned, King Alle bestowed new rights on the women of Småland, e.g. equal inheritance with their brothers and husbands.
