Apollinaris is not usually used as a given name in the Nordic countries, it is just known as the name of some saints - thus the Danish name day.
The mineral water takes its name from the spring where it was discovered near Bad Neuenahr in Germany, in the mid-19th century. The spring was named after a nearby chapel. [2]
