Origin and Meaning
Fantasy name invented by Sven Nordqvist for his book Pannkakstårtan (1984), the first one in the series of 'Pettson and Findus' books
In the books, Findus is a tomcat. Pettson named it Findus because he received him in an empty cardboard box 'Findus Gröna Ärtor' (Findus Green Peas), a trademark by Nestlé in Sweden for frozen food. The name is derived from Swedish fruktindustri = 'fruit industry' [1]
